Britney & Amy MTV Tribute

Britney Spears and Madonna were on the MTV Video Music Awards stage together their infamous kissed created one of the most memorable moments in MTV history.
Now the pair are set to reunite again when Madge presents Brit with a special tribute award during Sunday's VMA show. Spears, who is set to perform her hits Hold It Against Me and I Wanna Go, will also watch famous fans, including Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Demi Lovato, Nicki Minaj and Janet Jackson join together on stage in a special musical tribute to her, according to the website's sources.
The tribute -- which is usually reserved for performers who are much older than 29-year-old Spears -- was reportedly set up to ensure that the I'm a Slave 4 U singer makes an appearance at the show.
"Britney's young to receive an award like this, but the producers know that it will force Britney to come to the show," the source claimed. "That will help boost ratings."
Amy Winehouse will be honored by singing legend Tony Bennett, who will introduce never-before-seen footage from his March recording session with the late soul singer at London's legendary Abbey Road Studios.
The session, which was Winehouse's last, saw the duo record Body and Soul for Bennett's upcoming Duets II album, out Sept. 20.
"It was a thrill to record with Amy Winehouse and when you listen to the recording of Body and Soul, it is a testament to her artistic genius and her brilliance as one of the most honest musicians I have ever known," Bennett said in a statement.
All proceeds will go towards the Amy Winehouse Foundation, a charity set up by her father, Mitch Winehouse, to help young people with drug problems.
Amy Winehouse BACK TO BLACK Album of the 21st Century
Amy Winehouse is still hitting music milestones after her untimely death last month. Britain's Official Charts Company says Winehouse's Grammy-award winning "Back to Black" has become the best-selling album in the U.K. in the 21st century. The company, which tracks music sales in the U.K., said Wednesday that "Back to Black" overtook James Blunt's 2005 debut album to claim the title this week.

Winehouse's second album had jumped to the No. 1 spot on the charts shortly after the soul singer was found dead in her London town house on July 23. An initial post-mortem failed to determine cause of death, and Winehouse's family said Tuesday that toxicology tests showed she had no illegal drugs in her system when she died.
An inquest into Winehouse's death begins in October.

Lil Wayne & Drake Hits TOP 3 Billboard!

Lil Wayne & Drake Hits TOP 3 Billboard!Lil Wayne & Drake Hits TOP 3 Billboard!
Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV will enter the chart at #1 two weeks from today. A bold prediction? Not at all. Three songs from the album have already made the top 10 on the Hot 100. "6 Foot 7 Foot" (featuring Cory Gunz) reached #9 in January. "How To Love" hit #5 three weeks ago. And "She Will" (featuring Drake) debuts at #3 this week. That's the highest debut since Lady Gaga's "The Edge Of Glory" bowed at #3 in May. It's the highest debut for a rap/sung collabo since "Love The Way You Lie" by Eminem featuring Rihanna bowed at #2 in June 2010.

"She Will" is the 16th top 10 hit for Lil Wayne; the seventh for Drake. Only three other rappers have amassed as many top 10 hits as Lil Wayne. Jay-Z and Ludacris have each had 17. Puff Daddy has had 16. "She Will" enters Hot Digital Songs at #1, with first-week sales of 255K.

Katy Perry Makes Billboard Record!

Katy Perry Makes Billboard Record!
Katy Perry makes a new Billboard HOT 100 record. She becomes the first woman, and second artist overall following Michael Jackson, in the 53-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 to send five songs from an album to No. 1, as "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" becomes the fifth chart leader from her Capitol Records set "Teenage Dream."

The historic Hot 100 coronation follows the album's prior No. 1s "California Gurls" (featuring Snoop Dogg), the lead single from "Teenage Dream,"; the title cut; "Firework"; and, "E.T." (featuring Kanye West). The set bowed atop the Billboard 200 album chart dated Sept. 11, 2010, and has sold 1.7 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

While Perry is the first woman to achieve the honor, she is the second artist to manage the feat after Jackson. The late King of Pop sent five songs to No. 1 on the Hot 100 from "Bad" in 1987-88: "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" (with Siedah Garrett); the title track; "The Way You Make Me Feel"; "Man in the Mirror"; and, "Dirty Diana."

Friday Vs. Party Rock

Friday Vs. Party RockFriday Vs. Party Rock
"Party Rock Anthem" versus "Last Friday Night" this week by a fairly wide margin in digital sales (which is the other major component of the Hot 100). The LMFAO song sold 185K copies this week, to rank #1 on Hot Digital Songs for the sixth straight week. Perry's hit sold 136K copies, to drop from #3 to #5. So are Perry's chances of topping the Hot 100 doomed? Not so fast. A remix of "Last Friday Night," featuring Missy Elliott, was released on Sunday. That may give Perry's hit the last little push it needs to reach #1.

Britney Spawns TOP 10 Hits

Britney Spawns TOP 10 Hits
Britney Spears spawns her 11th top 10 hit with "I Wanna Go" jumps from #11 to #9. Remarkably, seven of these top 10 hits have come since Spears' public meltdown in 2007, when she seemed to be cracking under the pressure of a life in the tabloids. Happily, Spears got it together, personally and professionally, and has since delivered hit after hit. Her current album, Femme Fatale, is her first to spawn three top 10 hits.  "Hold It Against Me" debuted at #1 in January. "Till The World Ends" peaked at #3 in May. Billboard is giving Spears credit for a top 10 hit for her guest role on a remix of Rihanna's "S&M." Joel Whitburn, who publishes a series of reference books based on the Billboard charts, isn't counting that as a top 10 hit for Spears. Let's take a look at this: Spears received featured billing on Rihanna's hit on the Hot 100 (as published in Billboard) just once. The very next week, the billing reverted back to simply Rihanna. I agree with Whitburn that Spears' period of prominence on this recording was too fleeting to have this count forever as a top 10 hit for her. Thus, I count "I Wanna Go" as Spears' 11th top 10 hit, not her12th.
