Dreamworks Animation’s Puss in Boots was the top dog cat this weekend, clawing its way to a $34 million debut, 51 percent of which came from 3-D screens, and 7 percent of which was from IMAX theaters.

While meaty, it’s important to note the list may -in its absolute final form-have additions. What’s more, it details the submissions of largely Top 40 Pop/Urban acts – the Grammy’s cover much more ground than that.
Adele's "Someone Like You" holds at #1 for the fifth straight week. "Rolling In The Deep" was #1 for seven weeks earlier this year. Adele is the first female solo artist to log five weeks at #1 in a calendar year with two strictly solo recordings. Beyonce, Monica and Mariah Carey also did it (in 2003, 1998 and 1995, respectively), if you include collabos.
"We Found Love" by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris leaps from #6 to #2 in its fifth week on the Hot 100. In addition, the song holds at #1 in the U.K. for the third straight week. It's Rihanna's longest-running #1 in the U.K. since "Umbrella" (featuring Jay-Z) topped the chart there for 10 weeks in 2007.

The third film in Paramount Pictures' low-budget fright franchise, which was No. 1 at the box office, had the biggest debut ever for a horror movie, according to Sunday studio estimates. It made a ton of noise at the box office with a record-setting, $54 million opening. It broke the previous record part two set a year ago with $40.7 million. It's also the biggest opening ever for an October release, topping the $50.35 million Paramount's "Jackass 3D" made last year.

Adele's "Someone Like You" holds at #1 for the fourth week. "Rolling In The Deep" was #1 for seven weeks earlier this year. Adele is the first "lead artist" to spend 11 or more weeks at #1 in a calendar year since the Black Eyed Peas were on top for 26 weeks in 2009.
Adele co-wrote and co-produced "Someone Like You" with Dan Wilson. She also co-wrote "Rolling In The Deep" (with Paul Epworth), but she didn't co-produce it. "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon5 featuring Christina Aguilera holds at #2 for the third week following a four-week run at #1. Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks" holds at #3 for the eighth week.

Real Steel dipped 40 percent to an estimated $16.3 million. That hold isn't quite as strong as Secretariat or Red from last October, but it's still solid in its own right. Through 10 days in theaters, the Hugh Jackman robot boxing movie has earned $51.7 million. Footloose was a close second with an estimated $16.1 million. It debuted below Stomp the Yard ($21.8 million and the first two Step Up movies ($20.7 million and $18.9 million), but did end up slightly above Step Up 3-D ($15.8 million). It also had lower initial attendance than the original Footloose.

"Someone Like You" a smash hits from Adele continues to the top in its third week at #1 on the Hot 100 and also tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week. Adele is one of only four lead artists to have two or more 2-million sellers in 2011. Katy Perry leads the pack with three. Bruno Marsand Lady Gaga have also had two. The difference, of course, is that Perry, Mars and Gaga all but define contemporary hit radio. Their records are mostly upbeat, hook-filled and ultra-catchy. Adele also gets played on contemporary hit radio, but she stands apart from it. She's definitely the one in this foursome who "doesn't fit" with the others.

Real Steel and Johnny English Reborn looks like it's going the full twelve rounds, though for the time being Real Steel has the slight edge. Rise of the Planet of the Apes leaped back up the chart thanks to a strong start in Japan, while The Smurfs finally relinquished its grasp on the top spot. Coinciding with its domestic debut, Real Steel opened to an estimated $22.1 million in 19 foreign markets this weekend. The Hugh Jackman robot boxing movie launched in first place in Russia ($6.9 million), Australia ($5.4 million) and Mexico ($2.9 million). Distributor Walt Disney Pictures noted that all three of these openings were up from Tron Legacy (which wound up with $228 million overseas), though Tron's Holiday opening skews that comparison a bit. Real Steel is now out in roughly 25 percent of the international marketplace, and it expands in to the United Kingdom, South Korea and a handful of other territories next weekend.

Full Heart-broken smash hits from Adele "Someone Like You" returns to #1 on the Hot 100 for a second week. The resurgence follows the arrival of the song's music video. Adele has topped the chart for nine weeks so far this year, which puts her in a tie with Katy Perry. (That's using Billboard issue dates. Using Nielsen SoundScan "week ending" dates, which run 13 days earlier, Perry loses two weeks at #1 of her year-bridging smash "Firework", which gives Adele the sole lead.)

Steve Jobs has done a GOOD JOB for us! He considered by some to be the Leonardo da Vinci of his age, was the mastermind behind Apple, the company he founded only to be forced out and then return to rebuild into a dominant force via a string of hugely popular products - the iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes.
President Barack Obama is remembering Apple co-founder Steve Jobs as one of America's greatest innovators and says the world has lost a visionary.
The man behind the iPod and iPhone as well as the personal computer and the iPad, Jobs died of cancer Wednesday at age 56. Obama said in a statement Wednesday night that Jobs was brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it. The president also said Jobs exemplified the spirit of American ingenuity.
In a tweet sent separately from his statement, Obama said, in his words, "There may be no greater tribute to Steve's success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented."
Dolphin Tale managed to leap over Moneyball and The Lion King (in 3D) to take first place on its second weekend in theaters. 50/50 faltered but was tops among newcomers, though faith-based movie Courageous had the most impressive showing at far fewer locations.
