Twilight Still Breaks Box Office!

Twilight Still Breaks Box Office!
Twilight for second weeks on top! The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 easily repeated in first place at the box office over Thanksgiving weekend, while The Muppets revived the long-dormant franchise with a strong second place debut. Arthur Christmas and Hugo weren't quite as fortunate, though the true measure of their success will be determined over the next month.Breaking Dawn added an estimated $62.3 million for the five-day weekend, which is a bit off from New Moon's $66.3 million over the same time period in 2009. On Saturday, Breaking Dawn passed $200 million, and through its first 10 days the penultimate Twilight movie has earned $221.3 million. The Muppets opened to an estimated $42 million, which is down from past Disney Thanksgiving entries Tangled ($68.7 million) and Enchanted ($49.1 million).

RiRi Vs. Katy Perry on Billboard!RiRi Vs. Katy Perry on Billboard!
Will Katy Perry hits #1 again? Her latest single "The One That Got Away" jumps from #15 to #10 on the Hot 100, becoming the sixth top 10 hit from her 2010 album Teenage Dream. That's the first album in 17 years to spawn six top 10 hits. The last was Janet Jackson's "janet.," which achieved the feat in November 1994 (when Perry was just 10).
"We Found Love" by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris logs its fourth straight week at #1 on the Hot 100. It tops Hot Digital Songs for the fifth straight week. It also moves up to #1 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart. It's Rihanna's ninth #1 on Hot 100 Airplay. Only one artist has had as many or more #1 songs on that chart in its 21-year history. Mariah Carey is the leader with 11.
"We Found Love" also holds at #1 in the U.K. for the sixth week.

Twilight Saga's Breaking Box Office Record!

Twilight Saga's Breaking Box Office Record!
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1's outstanding estimated $139.5 million opening indicated that the sexy teen vampires are as popular as ever. What does appear to have lost some of its appeal, however, is dancing penguins: Happy Feet Two struggled to even open to half as much as its popular 2006 predecessor. Overall box office was up around 14 percent to at least $221 million, and the weekend could wind up ranking as the fifth-highest on record.Breaking Dawn's $139.5 million opening is second-best among Twilight movies behind 2009's New Moon ($142.7 million). That's a small gap, though, and Breaking Dawn still managed to claim fifth place on the all-time opening weekend chart behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 3 and New Moon.

Immortals Reigns Top Box Office!

Immortals Reigns Top Box Office!
Olympian warrior movie called "Immortals" may not have been the next 300, but it was at least strong enough to claim the top spot at the box office this weekend. Jack and Jill opened lower than most major Adam Sandler movies, and only $500,000 currently separates it from strong holdover Puss in Boots. The weekend's third new movie, J. Edgar, failed to exceed modest expectations. With three movies over $25 million, overall box office was up at least 12 percent from the same period last year. Immortals debuted to an estimated $32 million, which is less than half of 300's $70.9 million and also way off from Clash of the Titans's $61.2 million. While those are both very similar movies, it's a slightly unfair comparison given the marketing dominance exercised by their distributor Warner Bros. In its own right, Immortals was actually very impressive. It is distributor Relativity Media's best opening ever by a long shot

RiRi Vs. FloRida on HOT 100!

RiRi Vs. FloRida on HOT 100!
RiRi just logs a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "We Found Love" (featuring Calvin Harris), which scores Airplay Gainer honors for a second consecutive week.

"Found," the lead single from Rihanna's sixth studio album, "Talk That Talk," due Nov. 21, spends a second week at No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart with 235,000 downloads sold, down 3%, according to Nielsen SoundScan. On Radio Songs, "Found" charges 7-4 (103 million all-format audience impressions, up 22%, according to Nielsen BDS).

As reported upon the song's Hot 100 coronation last week, when "Found" became her 11th No. 1 on the survey, Rihanna became just the seventh artist in the chart's 53-year history to tally at least 11 toppers, joining the Beatles (20), Mariah Carey (18), Michael Jackson (13), Madonna (12), the Supremes (12) and Whitney Houston (11).

MTV Europe Music Awards 2011 Winner!

MTV Europe Music Awards 2011 Winner!
The MTV Europe Music Awards turned into a celebration of Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga Sunday night as the two picked up a number of top prizes, including best male and best female act. Gaga, striking in several outfits throughout the evening, also won for best song and best video for "Born This Way." Bieber picked up best pop act as well.

Their live performances captured the differences between the two ascendant mega-stars: the teenage Bieber, wholesome and almost impossibly cute; Gaga challenging and aggressively sexual in her approach. Other awards went to Bruno Mars, Eminem and Katy Perry while the band Queen received the "Global Icon" award, in effect a lifetime achievement award to the now-graying rockers, who closed the show with a spirited set of their classics, including "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions."

It was a rousing end to the awards show, a highlight on the European music calendar that also draws A-list stars from the United States. It was held in Belfast, Northern Ireland, for the first time.
